LakeHost summarizes publicly available municipal information, with a link to each source and the date we last checked it. It is not legal, tax, accounting or other professional advice, and using it does not create a professional relationship with us. It does not confirm that any property is licensed or meets any rule.

The official version applies

Municipal by-laws, fee schedules and tax rules are set by the municipality and other governments. If anything on this site differs from the official by-law, fee schedule or government document, the official version applies. Always confirm with your municipality, and ask your accountant or lawyer about your situation.

You are responsible for your own compliance

You are responsible for licensing your property, following the rules that apply to it, keeping your own records, meeting your deadlines and paying any fees and taxes. Reminders and summaries from LakeHost are a convenience; they do not replace your own checks.

No guarantee

We work to keep information accurate and current, but we do not guarantee that it is complete, correct or up to date, or that the site will always be available. Rules can change between our checks. We may update, change or remove content at any time without notice. You use the site and its information at your own risk.

Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, including fines, penalties, demerit points, licence suspension or refusal, denied tax deductions, tax reassessments, lost bookings, lost income or lost profits, arising from your use of this site or its information. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Joining the founding list is free.

You may use this site for your own short-term rental or property decisions. You may not copy, resell, republish or automatically collect (scrape) our content or data for commercial use without our written permission.

Joining is free and does not commit you to buy anything. Prices and features described on this site are planned and may change before launch. Any paid service will have its own terms, which you will see and accept before paying.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of Ontario have jurisdiction over any dispute.

If part of these terms is invalid

If a court finds any part of these terms invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.

We may update these terms. The date above shows the latest version, and the version posted when you use the site applies.
